SandownSANDOWN BAY is situated at the south-east part of the Isle of Wight and offers a half moon shaped safe sandy beach which extends for about 5 miles from Whitecliff at Yaverland to Luccombe, south of Shanklin. The twin holiday resorts of Sandown and Shanklin lie within the sheltered boundaries of Sandown Bay.

Sandown has the more direct access to the magnificent beach with the high street shops, banks and commercial premises only a hundred yards or so from the Esplanade. Quiet in winter, the town explodes in Summer and becomes the focus of thousands of tourists, many of whom, return year after year. Apart from the beach, Sandown also has its own Victorian pier, with amusements, fairground rides and angling facilities. Nearby, there are other attractions, including The Heights Health and Leisure Centre, library, nightclub, Browns pitch and putt course, the Tiger Sanctuary(a world famous zoo), the Dinosaur Isle museum and Sandown and Shanklin golf Club..

Sandown Bay has a very mild climate and consistently enjoys a high place in the U.K’s sunshine records.

The town has good railway connections to Ryde, which offers Hovertravel and Wightlink ferry facilities to and from Portsmouth on the Mainland.

In recent years SANDOWN BAY has become a popular retirement area and offers a wide variety of residential properties, some with good sea views.
